A standout in any salad, Atriplex 'Hortensis Fire Red' commonly known as 'Mountain Spinach' produces dramatic red salad leaves. An ancient vegetable which has been grown as a substitute for spinach, due to its similar flavour. Harvest the entire plant when it is 30cm high or pick leaves as required. Very tolerant of dry and poor soil conditions. The seeds are also edible and are eaten ground or while in bread recipes.
