The Serrano chili is a type of chili pepper originating from the mountainous regions of Mexico. It is known for its bright green color when unripe, turning red, brown, orange, or yellow as it matures.

The peppers are slender, typically about 1-4 inches long, and have a crisp, fresh flavor with a significant heat level, rating 10,000 to 23,000 Scoville Heat Units. Serrano chilies are commonly used in salsas, sauces, and as a spice in various dishes. They are popular for their versatility in both raw and cooked forms, and they are rich in vitamins A and C.
