Ceratonia siliqua 'Carob Chocolate Tree' - 5+ Seeds

The Chocolate Carob Tree - Ceratonia siliqua is a hardy, evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean region. It is valued for its dark brown pods, which contain sweet, edible pulp and seeds. These pods are often ground into carob powder, a popular chocolate substitute, or used in syrups, baking, and animal feed. 

The tree grows 5-12meters tall, with a broad, spreading canopy of glossy, green leaves. It thrives in full sun, well-drained soil, and arid to semi-arid climates, making it highly drought-tolerant. Carob trees are low-maintenance and can also enrich the soil with nitrogen. They are appreciated for their edible pods, ornamental appeal, and ecological benefits in dry landscapes.


Seed Starting Method
  • Scarification: Lightly sand the seed coat with fine sandpaper or nick it with a knife to allow water to penetrate.
  • Soak the Seeds: Place the scarified seeds in warm water for 24-48 hours. Change the water if it cools to maintain warmth. The seeds will swell, indicating they are ready to germinate.
