Dodonaea viscosa – Narrow Leaf Hop Bush – 10x Seeds
(Dodonaea viscosa angustissima)

Narrow Leaf Hop Bush is a hardy Australian native shrub known for its slender, narrow leaves and dense, upright growth habit. This versatile plant is often used as a hedge, screen, or windbreak, thanks to its ability to thrive in poor soils and tolerate harsh conditions. In spring and summer, it produces small greenish flowers followed by decorative, papery seed capsules that resemble hops.

Plants typically grow 2–4 metres tall and spread to about 2 metres wide, with fast, reliable growth. Narrow Leaf Hop Bush is highly drought-tolerant, frost-resistant, and suitable for coastal, inland, or urban gardens. It thrives in full sun to part shade and adapts well to a wide range of soils, including poor and sandy types.

A low-maintenance, evergreen shrub perfect for native gardens, erosion control, and wildlife-friendly landscapes.

Well adapted to Australian conditions.

  1. Sow seed on surface of a porous seed raising mix and cover to a depth of 1-2 mm. Don’t bury the seed.
  2. Water with fine mist spray to avoid moving the seed.
  3. Place in a warm shaded or semi shaded position to avoid dying out.
  4. Keep warm & moist, avoid drying out or waterlogging the growing mix.
  5. Germination generally occurs in around 10-28 days in the right condition.
  6. We use cheap mini hot houses from Bunnings and heat mats to get our seeds to germinate quickly!
