Cercis Canadensis 'Eastern Redbud' - 5x Seeds
Cercis canadensis, commonly known as the Eastern Redbud, is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree native to North America. It is prized for its striking display of pink to purple pea-like flowers that bloom directly on its branches and trunk in early spring, before the leaves emerge. The heart-shaped leaves appear after flowering and turn yellow in the fall, adding seasonal interest.
Eastern Redbud typically grows 20-30 feet tall and wide, thriving in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. It is tolerant of a range of soil types and is drought-resistant once established. This tree is valued for its ornamental beauty, wildlife appeal (attracting bees, butterflies, and birds), and its adaptability, making it a popular choice for gardens, landscapes, and urban plantings.
To germinate these seeds you need to soak the seed in hot water for 24 hours. Then give it a cold/moist stratification period of 1-2 months (or winter sow the seed). Plant the seed around 5mm deep.
